A useful job-search conversation starts with a few practical details: the work you can do, the hours you can work, and the places you can reliably reach. You do not need a perfect résumé before asking Express for help. Preparing these details makes it easier to discuss opportunities that may fit.
Use this checklist before you apply, call the office, or meet with a recruiter. It is just as useful when you are changing careers as when you are looking for similar work with a different employer.
Explain what you have actually done
Write down recent jobs, volunteer work, training, or other relevant experience. Go beyond the title. List equipment you have used, systems you know, customers you have helped, and responsibilities you have handled.
If you are early in your career, include examples of learning a task, following a schedule, working with others, or solving a practical problem. Accurate examples give the recruiter more to work with than broad statements such as “hard worker.”
Be clear about your availability
Know which days and hours you can consistently work. Think about school, another job, transportation, and other commitments. Say whether you are looking for temporary, part-time, full-time, seasonal, or continuing work.
For a seasonal role, explain when you can start and how long you expect to be available. It is better to discuss a limit early than to discover that the assignment needs a schedule you cannot maintain.
Consider the real commute
Identify the towns and worksites you can reach at the required start time. A distance that looks reasonable on a map can feel different for an early shift or changing weather. Ask about the exact worksite rather than assuming a regional listing is in your city.
If a role involves travel between sites, ask how it works. Housing, travel arrangements, and transportation assistance vary by employer and job. Do not assume they are included.
Know what you want to ask
Write down questions about duties, schedule, pay, required credentials, physical work, training, and the first day. Ask which requirements must already be met and which parts of the job can be learned.
Benefits and eligibility can differ by assignment and location. Ask the local Express team about the terms for the opportunity you are considering. Also discuss how to request help or accommodations during the application process.
Keep your contact information current
Use a phone number and email account you check regularly. Make sure the recruiter can reach you and that you know how to respond. When your availability or interest changes, tell the team so they can work with current information.
Submit applications and any requested employment documents through the official Express process. Avoid putting sensitive personal information into a general website contact message.

Express does not charge job seekers for placement services. An application begins a conversation; a placement depends on the opportunity, requirements, availability, and fit.
